Montessori philosophy is a child-centered approach in education which believes that a child learns best in an environment which supports and respects each individual’s unique development.
When the basic physical, emotional and social needs of a young child are consistently, respectfully and joyfully met, the child learns to trust.
It all starts with Maria Montessori. She was born on 31 August 1870, in Chiaravalle, Italy. Graduating from the University of Rome’s medical school in 1896, her journey took a significant turn when she delved into the care of young children.
Through rigorous scientific observations of children, Dr. Montessori uncovered a profound truth: children learn best in a homelike setting, often referred to as a ‘prepared environment‘ which plays a pivotal role in nurturing a child’s sense of order, inner discipline, and self-control.
This environment is designed with materials that are self-correcting, fostering independent exploration, discovery, practice, and achievement.
